Who knew?: Mount Disappointment →
In the course of watching fire coverage I saw a tweet go by that mentioned Secret Service radio channels were affected by fire on Mount Disappointment. Such a great name I had to google to find out more.

There is nothing more fun than watching the wheels come off the train and what better motivation than a book tour. I just want to jump forward twenty years and see what television will look like when (I hope) no one wants the opinions of old cranky white guys with twisted agendas.  Off to buy a copy of Penn & Teller: Bullshit!

NYT: In New Orleans, Recovery Is Not Enough →
So instead of returning to a decaying economic structure, New Orleans is talking about revitalization, a buzzword behind the new energy in the city, carried by an intensity and idealism that would have bordered on indecent in the old, charmingly carefree New Orleans.

Healthcare today - personal account
One of Jenn’s doctors takes NO insurance, it was costing them too much overhead dealing with it all. When she leaves the office they give her a “suitable for submission” report which Jenn sends to the insurance company. A few days later we get a “We’ve received your submission and will let you know” letter from the insurance company. Weeks later we get an...

Yesterday's Photos uploaded to Flickr
I completed uploading the Great Wall, Olympic Village and Hutong pictures from yesterday thanks to being restless and anxious to come home. I also resorted the Flickr group to put latest stuff first. Enjoy here: http://tinyurl.com/ChinaGroup or for a slide show: http://tinyurl.com/ChinaSlides Next stop - airport!

Yes, I did really do the toboggan down from the Great Wall - it was great! I will load flickr with photos in the next couple days, I filled an 8GB card plus a bit more today alone. Home tomorrow, I leave Beijing at 12 noon and land in LA at 12:15pm… it really takes about 14 hours with a stop in San Francisco.

Cel Phone Company Shenanigans
A cel phone is a wireless connection to the network… yet the phone companies have concocted schemes to charge you for each different usage of that same connection. Want to make a call? You’ll need to buy voice minutes. Need Data? That is a separate charge. Want to send an SMS text message? That one will hurt the most with what is surely the lowest overhead/highest cost. Now we are...
