Saw this commercial in a bar last night without sound and was curious because it showed someone walking into and out of an Apple store and was a Microsoft commercial. This article makes some good points and includes the ad.
Ever wondered if anyone in Washington saw the economic problems coming? Rachel Maddow interviews one of only 8 senators who voted against the bill that started all this… in 1999.
Why I'm a Mac
My father in-law has a new-ish iMac and asked about some form of backup. We bought a FireWire drive, plugged in and a dialogue came up “this is a new drive would you like use for Time Machine?”. Yes. Done.
Yesterday my sister mentioned on her facebook that she keeps getting an error line 34 error when she goes to post. You know what, Macs may cost a bit more, but really, how much is...

Will NPR Save the News? (Fast Company) →
I have written a bunch here about news and old media. Here is an example of old media finding a way. I’d also like to recommend the magazine Fast Company, I am very impressed with the issues I have seen and I just subscribed.
Rebranding?
Rachel Maddow last night did a story about AIG changing name to AIU. All I could think was how much are they spending to come up with that name, change signs, printed materials, etc… I mean a change like that costs millions and it’s not like we won’t all know they are the same company. This smells of more of the same to me.
Maybe in the spirit of SciFi network changing to SyFy...

Why do humans hate change so much?
When Facebook changed their home page I joked that it would be seconds before groups broke out to complain about the change. How could anyone be attached to the old Facebook page, it was what, 2 months old!? Anyway I am amused but also disheartened by the instant and visceral reaction people have to such simple changes. Change in this arena is to be expected and constant… it is in fact the...

Yesterday was St. Patrick’s Parade in Chicago and I was blown away by the number of people out on the streets and more importantly in the restaurants and bars. A cab driver rode with last night was downright excited about the crowds and earning potential.
New York and Chicago celebrate St. Pat’s in a way that got me thinking that there is no equivalent in Los Angeles. Santa Monica...

Getting to the core
Jon Stewart has been doing his thing for years now yet for some reason no other show or network has been able to figure out why it works. While Jon’s show is entertainment the core is solid. There is a belief system in place that we should all do better and expect better. Jon is able to wrap substance in a candy coating while Cramer and his cohorts think it’s all party hats and sound...
