(first time it plays it plays fast, hit play again to see normal) I normally take a lot of photos on a trip but on this trip I got to try a few things I had minimal experience with. Here is a sample of playing with timelapse (now with color correction and dirt fix).

“Verizon insanity!”
– My welcome home to reality started with a jolt this morning as Verizon did not show up for a scheduled appointment for the FOURTH time! As I type this I am on hold again with these idiots and I am sure it will be over an hour on the phone, it has been every one of the 10 or so times before. If you...

Fun with tech
two projects caught my attention… not enough to find links to post for you,  but enough to mention and if you care you can google… 1) there is a project to use motion sensors in laptops (or even put in desktops) to detect and report earthquake data from a wider pool 2) in San Francisco saw a report on TV about using cel phone GPS data for accurate traffic maps - expanding traffic...

Prime example of broken government →
Stuck on tarmac? Airlines not required to help passengers Have you seen that Nextel commercial where they put a government meeting in the hands of firemen who decide like ten sensible things in :30? Doesn’t a reasonable airline passenger bill of rights seem like it shouldn’t even require a meeting?

How can we miss you if you won't go away?
Here’s the way this works… you lose, you go away. No Today Show (Palin), no Tonight Show (McCain)… you are supposed to do the time honored thing and get out of our faces. Go fix Alaska, go suspend your post-campaign to fix the economy. We’re sure we’ll hear from you again but right now you don’t deserve our attention, we are busy thinking about the future.  Oh,...

It was the first restaurant we went out for dinner to when we moved to Los Angeles… that night Andy...

Don't know how I feel about this one
Me: General Motors now says they need a bailout
Other Me: Serves them right, they refused to retool years ago and kept telling us they were making the cars Americans wanted.
Me: Yeah, but there are a lot of jobs at risk here...
Other Me: Did you see my post earlier today about "Any company that is too big to fail is too big to exist!"?
Me: Bite me

WAPO: Obama Positions Himself to Quickly Reverse... →
“Transition advisers to President-elect Barack Obama have compiled a list of about 200 Bush administration actions and executive orders that could be swiftly undone to reverse the president on climate change, stem cell research, reproductive rights and other issues…” I found this article on The Daily Kos which tagged their excerpt:  Elections, my friends, have consequences.

Yes We Should!
Have you noticed something weird in the air? It’s the Hope Air Freshener we bought last Tuesday. There is talk of a new spirit of involvement in government, a possible upswing in projects like the Peace Corp, there are people marching in the streets over discrimination… after many years of bitching about the government people seem to be awakening to the thought that they are part of it...

Verizon WTF?
Had Verizon high speed FiOS installed 9/18 and they forgot to hook up bedroom line. Today is 11/8 and they missed the THIRD appointment to finish the job. No show, no calls… nothing. The story is much longer and includes three other times when they promised to call me back and never did.   Something is seriously flawed at Verizon when a customer can be treated this way. I understand the...

Holy Ship!
Last cruise ship I was on was the SS Norway… which at the time was the largest ship on the ocean, it was formerly the SS France. The barber mentioned it was scrapped so I got curious and found this history. In short - after years as a majestic cruise ship and having been used in WWII to transport troops this ship had a boiler explosion that killed several crew members and ended up being...

Mood altering haircut
Did you ever just have a day where for no good reason you were just cranky? That was my Friday. I left work considering a cocktail or going to take some pictures at a Prop 8 rally - but decided to stop and get a haircut first. My hair takes about 10 minutes to cut, even that is milking it. This haircut took at least an hour, not because it was a  salon with neck massages or cocktails, it took...
