Ringtones!
I was avoiding the hacks for the iPhone. Finally a software company I have liked made a simple app - iToner. It requires no jailbreak or hack… just drag and drop audio files.

NBC and iTunes
NBC has apparently decided to stop selling shows on iTunes - surely for some new self made venture or partnership. I hope there is an NBC beancounter standing by to compare revenues after the change because my guess is this is a really dumb idea. Update: Someone has just written an excellent open letter to NBC.

Oprah and NOLA
I’m not an Oprah fan but we Tivo’d her 2 year Katrina special. It was amazing, sad, well done and hopefully got through to a lot of America that New Orleans is a mess and that this same experience can come to your town if a natural or other disaster hits. I think you can watch clips on the Oprah web site. Some notes from the show: A grand total of 22 psychologists work in New...

Hypocrite's Voting Record →
The press should just start following any politician who votes against gay rights. Seems like the louder they protest, the more hypocritical they are.

Queen of Mean remains so in death
Leona Helmsley leaves $12 million trust fund for her dog… She also left millions for her brother, as well as two of four grandchildren from her late son — so long as they visit their father’s grave site once each calendar year. Otherwise, she wrote, neither will get a penny of the $5 million she left for each of them. Helmsley left nothing to two other grandchildren - for...

Craig's List
Senator Craig says “I did nothing inappropriate”. Well… The Smoking Gun is here in this case to show us all the police reports and my favorite - the signed guilty plea - where he agrees to #4: I understand that the court will not accept a plea of guilt from anyone who claims to be innocent. and #5: I now make no claim that I am innocent of the charge to which I am entering a...

“Sissy, I’m trying to follow.”
– Yeah, I think all the viewers of John of Cincinnati are tired of trying to follow. Canceled. I really tried, amazingly great cast… writers got lost.

“it’s about the kinds of idiots who populate our lives with increasing frequency, selfish mommies, people on the street talking into their bluetooth headsets like schizophrenics, boneheads who wait until all their groceries are rung up before looking for their money. and then, they pay with a check.” Artist and journalist Bill Lagattuta

Apple smart, AT&T dumb
For my iPhone I am paying less monthly than I was for my Nextel Blackberry and I have more minutes - but my AT&T bill this month is 45 pages! Why do I need every data transaction the phone makes detailed on dead trees when I have an unlimited data plan? Update: AT&T has an electronic bill option. Trees saved!

Favorite songs today
Mother in Law - the Ernie K-Doe classic song reworked by John Boutte with Cubanisimo. It’s on iTunes and that is the link. This one will take some more work. It’s “I don’t want to be a bother” by Brian Vander Ark. You’ll have to go here and find it in the player… it’s on the “Angel, Put your face on” album. If the voice sounds...

Subtle fixes in iPhone 1.01
One thing that did not work for me in original iPhone software was using with Belkin Cable in the car. That is now fixed… it still comes up and asks if you want to go to Airplane Mode but if you say no it sends audio out the dock connector and switches to Bluetooth if a call comes. Previously saying no sent sound to the iPhone speakers or headset jack. Excellent bonus fix in this last...
