Timing and a Decent Proposal
I first heard Christine Todd Whitman on the Stern show years ago… she made a promise to Howard Stern that if she became governor she would name a rest stop on the freeway after him. She did. She was also well spoken and smart and I liked her. Then she became EPA director under Bush… I was encouraged but figured she would get beaten down. Then she quit to “spend time with her...

Stay Commercial
Speaking of blenders… mine came out of the pantry this past weekend to whip up some daiquiris and when I started it the plastic gear that turns blade exploded into fragments. My advice on blenders… stay with the commercial ones - like the one pictured. Head to Hamilton Beach Commercial web site and pick one then visit your local restaurant supply store.

This was...

Keeping up with Edison
Some kids get Winnie the Pooh theme bedrooms, Finding Nemo, etc…. but young Edison is starting off with a bedroom inspired by his name. Yes, that is a Cray Supercomputer for seating.

Shoes
When we walked into the memorial service tonight there were shoes at the end of every row. At first I thought, wow I’ve never been to a service where we’ve taken our shoes off. But then I realized that they were our dear friend Eric’s shoes. He had a bit of a shoe problem… weekly the latest tennis shoe in orange, blue, green, or some combination would arrive. The next...

Why?
When we are young “why?” is the constant question we ask our parents until they get bored with that game or run out of answers. It’s one of the shortest words we have, yet it has so many uses and meanings. I started thinking about the word “Why” this year at Jazz Fest when New Orleans great John Boutte covered the Annie Lennox song. I’m sure she wrote the song...
