FCC stuff
The FCC board rejected an expanded cable oversight proposal that FCC chairman Kevin Martin seemed hell bent on getting passed. Also I heard yesterday that the broadcast industry has spent $8 million dollars lobbying against the XM/Sirius merger.

Internet shopping conundrum
I wanted a new camera case. I knew what I wanted and researched online extensively but it’s hard to get a feel for the fit of such a thing, so I went off to the local camera store. The bag I ended up liking was different than what I thought it would be so I had no idea of cost in my head. Then, when I got home, there was a card attached to bag that mentioned items that were not with my bag,...

Media myths about the Jena 6 →
I am always fascinated when the media gets a story wrong all at once… here is an article by a reporter who lives in Jena, whose wife teaches at the school and who took the time to get the facts himself.

Years ago I had an area on neonmargarita called Email Reunion. I even owned the domain emailreunion.com. My idea was a place to catch up with old friends, people who worked together… if you know me you could find them, email them, see where they were now. Turns out I was thinking way too small. LinkedIn is the successful big thinking expansion of that idea.
Avid not at NAB
Avid has decided not to be on the show floor at NAB. This makes one wonder about the health of Avid. The Apple booth (which for years now has been across the aisle from Avid) has grown and grown over the years and is always packed. This also opens up a huge space right inside the door for someone.

How high can we go?
The national debt crossed 9 trillion dollars for the first time this week. For perspective the high was 1 trillion when President Reagan left office. The debt clock in Times Square does not have a digit for 10 trillion because when it was erected (1989) it was inconceivable. I don’t know enough to spout on and on about this topic but I ask that you scream the next time you hear a...
NBC is stupid
NBC drops out of iTunes and sets up their own service. Claimed they only made 15 million dollars from iTunes. So the first reviews are in on their new service and it is getting widely panned. My favorite… it’s windows only! So don’t you figure they spent more than $15 million to build whatever it is they have built? And they cut out users and set top boxes (AppleTV) in the...
